The Raiziss and de Palchi Translation Awards were created in 1995 by Sonia Raiziss Giop. She left a gift to The New York Community Trust. Sonia was a poet, translator, and editor who worked at Chelsea. The awards honor translations of modern Italian poetry into English. Winners can receive either a $10,000 prize for a book or a $25,000 fellowship. The fellowship includes a stay at the American Academy in Rome.
