Gayleen Froese was born in 1972. She is a Canadian novelist and singer-songwriter. She has written six novels, including two paranormal mystery novels and a series called Ben Ames Casefiles, which are detective stories.

Her third novel, The Girl Whose Luck Ran Out, has been translated into French and German. She also wrote a superhero novel titled Lightning Strike Blues, which was released in 2023, and an urban fantasy novel called The Dominion, released in 2024.

Froese was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. She studied at Ryerson University, which is now called Toronto Metropolitan University, in Toronto. Her first album, Obituary, won an Undiscovered Artist Award from CBC Radio. In 1998, she performed at Toronto's North by Northeast music festival.

In 2006, Froese appeared on Canadian Learning Television's A Total Write Off. In 2007, she was one of twelve writers chosen as a finalist for BookTelevision's 3 Day Novel Contest. The contest was filmed in 2007 but did not air until late 2009. Froese won the contest. She was also shortlisted twice in the International Three-Day Novel Contest.

Froese's non-fiction and humor writing has been published in magazines and newspapers such as See Magazine, The Rat Creek Press, and Edify.

As of 2022, Froese lives on Alberta Avenue in Edmonton, Alberta.
