Obelit Yadgar (June 29, 1941 – August 30, 2023), also known as Obie Yadgar, was an Assyrian-American radio announcer from Glendale, Wisconsin.
Yadgar was born in Baghdad, Iraq. He grew up in Tehran and moved to the United States in 1957. He joined the US Army's 4th Infantry Division and worked as a combat correspondent in Vietnam during 1967 and 1968.
From the 1970s, Yadgar worked for eight years at the radio station WFMR in Milwaukee. He later returned to the same station in the late 1980s and early 1990s, spending another 10 years there. He was honored as "Best Morning Announcer" by Milwaukee Magazine. In 1996, he moved to the Chicago radio station WNIB. He returned to WFMR in 2002 but was let go in early 2004 when the station changed to satellite programming.
Yadgar wrote for the Assyrian magazine Zinda and appeared on Chicago Public Radio.
He passed away on August 30, 2023.
