The Asian American Literary Awards are given out each year by The Asian American Writers' Workshop since 1998. These awards recognize outstanding work in fiction, poetry, and nonfiction, selected by a group of judges from literature and schools. There is also a Members' Choice Award, which is decided by the Workshop's members from the entries of that year. Additionally, a Lifetime Achievement Award is presented. To qualify, a book must be written by someone of Asian descent living in the United States, published first in English, and entries are actively asked for by the Workshop.
