History

Autotelic began when Neil Tin, the band’s guitarist, met Josh Villena. Villena is the band’s composer, lead vocalist, and guitarist. The band originally included Villena, Tin, Pabs Villegas (bassist), and Gep Macadaeg (drummer). They first met at a fast-food court, where they started creating music by combining Japanese and alternative rock with dance music.

Later, Eric Tubon, a keyboardist, joined the band. He is also part of the progressive rock band Fuseboxx. Afterward, singer-songwriter Kai Honasan took Tubon’s place as the keyboardist. EJ Edralin later joined the band to play synthesizers. The first song they created with Honasan was the album’s first single, “Dahilan.”

Coke Studio PH collaborations

Autotelic worked with Ebe Dancel, the former lead vocalist of Sugarfree, for Coke Studio PH. The band performed Sugarfree's song "Bawat Daan," and Ebe Dancel performed Autotelic's song "Dahilan." They finished the episode by performing their joint song "Bahagi."
