The Bangla Academy Literary Award (Bengali: বাংলা একাডেমি সাহিত্য পুরস্কার; Bangla Academy Shahitya Puroshkar) is presented by the Bangla Academy of Bangladesh to honor individuals who show great talent in helping to improve and contribute to the Bengali language and literature.
This award was first created in 1960 and recognized six categories: poetry, novels, short stories, essays, children's literature, and translation. In 1985, two additional awards were added to celebrate overall contributions to Bengali language and literature.
