The National Poetry Series is an American literary awards program. Since 1979, the National Poetry Series has helped publish five poetry books each year. Poets can submit their work through an open competition each year. These submissions are reviewed by famous poets and selected for publication by different publishers. Notable judges of this program have included Louise Glück (12th Poet Laureate of the United States), Tracy K. Smith (22nd Poet Laureate of the United States), Ada Limón (24th Poet Laureate of the United States), and Richard Blanco (United States inaugural poet).

The National Poetry Series also created the Paz Prize for Poetry, named after Nobel Prize-winning poet Octavio Paz. This award gives a prize to a book of poetry written in Spanish by a U.S. poet who hasn't published a book before. This award is very important for Spanish-language poetry in the United States. Books that have won this prize include Dinapiera Di Donato by Colaterales/Collateral in 2012 and Nueve monedas/Nine coins by Cuban-American Carlos Pintado in 2014.
