Hubert Leon Lampo was a Flemish writer born on September 1, 1920, in Antwerp. He passed away on July 12, 2006, in Essen. He was one of the people who started the magic realism movement in Flanders. His most famous book is De komst van Joachim Stiller (The Coming of Joachim Stiller, 1960). In this book, a mysterious character named Joachim Stiller appears as a savior, similar to how Jesus is portrayed in religious stories. Other themes in Lampo's work include stories about Orpheus, Atlantis, and the Holy Grail.
