The Geoffrey Bilson Award for Historical Fiction for Young People is a Canadian book award given annually to the best historical fiction book written for young readers. The award is named after Geoffrey Bilson, a writer of historical fiction for young people and a history teacher at the University of Saskatchewan, who passed away in 1987.
A group of experts chosen by the Canadian Children's Book Centre selects the winner. The author of the winning book must be Canadian, and the book must have been published in the year before the award is given. The winner receives a prize of $1000 (Canadian dollars).
This award is one of several given each year by the Canadian Children's Book Centre. Other awards include the Marilyn Baillie Picture Book Award, the Norma Fleck Award for Canadian Children's Non-Fiction, and the TD Canadian Children's Literature Award.
