Richard Dogbeh

Richard Dogbeh (1932–November 23, 2003), born Gbèmagon Richard Dogbeh in what is now Benin, was a writer and teacher. He worked as an assistant director in Benin’s National Ministry of Education from 1963 to 1966. He also participated in the International Advisory Committee for Libraries and Archives.

He worked as an assistant director in Benin’s National Ministry of Education from 1963 to 1966. He also participated in the International Advisory Committee for Libraries and Archives. From 1968 to 1979, he served as a UNESCO expert who studied education systems in much of West Africa. After that, he lived in Benin for the rest of his life.

As a writer, Dogbeh began creating works early in life. At age 16, he won a prize from the Institut Français d'Afrique Noire for his novel. He also wrote essays, poems, and short stories. He died in Cotonou.
